Dr. Shirley Lorenz is currently serving as an active Juvenile Justice Commissioner and as Chair of the Inspections Subcommittee for the Commission. She served as Co-Chair of the Commission from July 1, 2019 until June 30th, 2020.
Dr. Shirley Lorenz recently retired after 30 years as a school psychologist in the Dublin Unified School District, where she worked with children ages four through eighteen. She has also been an instructor at UC Berkeley and St. Mary’s College, teaching classes in basic measurement and assessment as well as child development. During her career, she has served as a site supervisor for many school psychologist interns. Ms. Lorenz holds a Ph. D. from UC Berkeley. Her interest in juvenile justice developed while working with adolescents in a continuation high school. She hopes to continue advocating for the educational opportunities, services and resources available to at-risk youth.
Ms. Lorenz lives in Lafayette with her husband and has a daughter living in Oregon.
